No accounts
Sirat has no sign-in and no user accounts. We never ask for your email address or phone number.
Sirat may ask what to call you, only to greet you on the Home screen. This is optional: you can skip it, or change or clear it any time in Settings. Your name is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.
Location
Your location is used only for three things: calculating prayer times, finding the Qibla direction, and finding nearby halal restaurants — nothing else. Qibla direction is calculated entirely on your device; your coordinates never leave your phone for that feature. Prayer times require sending your coordinates to the AlAdhan API to perform the calculation. Halal restaurant search sends your coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Overpass API by default, or to Google Places if this build is configured with a Maps API key. Each of these is a single, one-time location reading — the app never tracks your location continuously in the background. Only your last known coordinates are stored, on your device only, so the once-daily prayer-time refresh has something to work with without asking again.
You can also set your city by name instead of sharing your location. The name you type is sent to your phone's built-in geocoding service (provided by Google on most Android phones) to find matching cities, and the chosen city's coordinates are sent once to the AlAdhan API to find its timezone. The chosen city is stored on your device and included in your backup if you make one; you can switch back to your location at any time in Settings.
Microphone
Recitation Coach uses the microphone only while you're actively recording yourself reciting, and only after you allow it. Your recording is processed on your device and never uploaded. The recording is kept just long enough for you to play it back, and deleted when you try again or leave the screen. Only text and statistics are saved, on your device only: which ayahs you practised and their scores, which words were recited correctly or missed, and when a memorised ayah is next due for review. These build your practice plan on your phone and are never uploaded. Word-by-word checking uses a speech model that you can choose to download once from Google Play; it then runs entirely on your phone.
Notes, reading and memorisation
Your personal notes on ayahs, your daily reading log (which pages and ayahs you read, and for how long, to show your reading goal and streak), your Hifz map and its review schedule, and your mosque's iqamah times (if you enter them) are stored only on your device and in your own backups. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
Lock screen and widgets
If you turn on the ayah on your lock screen and choose your own photo as its background, Sirat keeps a copy of that photo inside the app's private storage on your phone, only to draw the lock screen. It is never uploaded. Turning the feature off stops using it.
Wear OS watch
If you install Sirat on a paired Wear OS watch, your phone sends the watch the coming two weeks of prayer times, your mosque's iqamah times and your city name, using Google's Wearable Data Layer between your own devices. Nothing is sent to us.
Advertising
If this build shows ads, they're served by Google AdMob on select screens only — Home, restaurant/mosque search results, the prayer schedule, the Hijri calendar, and Settings. Ads never appear on the Qur'an reader, verse or hadith detail pages, the prayer/adhan flow, duas, or the Qibla compass. If you're in the EEA, UK, or California, Google's own consent form appears before any personalized ad is requested. "Remove Ads" is available as a one-time purchase or a recurring subscription, both processed by Google Play — we never see your payment details.
What's stored on your device
Cached prayer schedules, a short-lived cache of restaurant search results, your Recitation Coach practice history and review schedule (never audio), your tasbih counts, Prayer Log and bookmarks, your preferences (calculation method, madhhab, distance unit, theme, notification settings), and the last-known-location pair described above. None of this is uploaded anywhere except as part of the location-based requests described above.
Backups
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android includes your preferences, records (Prayer Log, bookmarks, tasbih counts, Recitation Coach history) and last-known location in your Google backup, so they return when you set up a new phone. Google encrypts these backups end to end on Android 9 and later when your phone has a screen lock. Cached data is left out. You can turn this off in your phone's system settings.
If you turn on the weekly safety copy, Sirat saves a backup file once a week into a folder you choose on your phone, without a password; you can turn it off at any time.
You can also export a backup file yourself from Settings → Backup & restore. It stays wherever you save it; Sirat never uploads it. It never includes your location. If you set a password, the file is encrypted (AES-256); without one, anyone who gets the file can read it.
Third-party services
Sirat sends data to the following third parties, only as described above: the AlAdhan API (prayer time/Hijri date calculation, and the timezone of a city you set by name), your phone's geocoding service (city search, if you set your city by name), OpenStreetMap's Overpass API or Google Places API (nearby halal restaurant search, depending on configuration), Google Maps SDK (rendering the restaurant map, if configured), Google AdMob (serving/measuring ads, if configured), and Google Play Billing (processing in-app purchases). None of these services receive a Sirat-specific identifier — each request carries only what that single call needs. Each service handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy.
Mushaf page fonts
The printed mushaf pages use the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex's page fonts, provided by Quran Foundation. The first time you open a page, Sirat downloads that page's font from Quran Foundation's servers. The request carries only which page's font is needed; nothing about you. The fonts are kept on your phone, and you can delete them in Settings → Quran.
Children's privacy
Sirat is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
